Turn on 2-step verification

Before you start

• An authenticator app on your phone. Most standard authenticator apps work.

Steps

1. Open Set up an authenticator app

   Open Security, then Authenticator app. The page is called Set up an authenticator app.

2. Add the account in your app

   In your authenticator app, choose Add account or the + button.

3. Scan the code

   Scan the code on screen with your phone’s camera. If you cannot scan it, choose Copy key and type the key into the app instead.

4. Enter the code

   Type the 6 digit code your app shows into Code from the app and choose Verify and turn on.

5. Save your recovery codes

   You are taken to Recovery codes next. Save them before you leave the page.

6. Pick your default method

   Back on 2-step verification, choose which method is offered first under Default method, and whether to Ask on every sign-in.
